History Of Art & Design: Progression to insanity.

This is a collection of shots of my notes taken in History of Art & Design. I’m hoping it’s a plan to improve my doodling skills, because I have ceased to pay attention/ stay awake in that lecture now.

Visual Thinking: Mapping

Today we looked at Visual Thinking, with a specific angle towards mapping. After going across half of kingston in search of actions to do with perforation, rotation and stamping we came back and did a few exercises based around those actions. My personal favourite outcome was that of a 3D representation of one of the verbs.
We chose perforation and came up with this:

Visual Thinking 1
Visual Thinking 2

The idea behind this piece was the verb Perforate. It is intended to be a visual representation of pressure building up as you push against a surface, and then the immediate disapparation of said pressure at the moment the surface is pierced.

Survival Kit Project: Outcome & Crit

This is a quick short to give you an idea of the project that has taken the last week to complete. Working in a group of 6 we came up with this idea of an “argument in a box” which was then translated into a ‘Home Experience’, a reminder of what home is really like when you get back from uni. All nice at first and then it gets a bit too much. Anyway I hope you enjoy, I had to overdub the soundtracks because the audio quality wasn’t quite there on some of the spoken word. When the external speakers are taken away the only person who can hear what the chair is saying is the person sat in the chair so it makes for quite an insular experience.

Carrying the chair

Today we went on a lovely little trek to pick up this arm chair for an upcoming project (will probably be posted up on Tuesday). Not only did we manage to hunt it down free of charge, we also walked through the rain to get it. Anyway, stay posted to find out what we do with this little bad boy!
